Harrisburg Needs Leadership That Gets Things Done
Harrisburg is at a crossroads. Crime is rising, police officers are leaving, and city leadership is more focused on making excuses than fixing the problem. People are tired of the same cycle—leaders promising solutions while our streets become less safe.
Mayor Wanda Williams and her administration say the city is doing all it can. That is not true.
Let’s be clear. Harrisburg’s violent crime rate is one of the worst in Pennsylvania. We have lost 33 police officers in one year. Officers are underpaid, and they are leaving for better salaries in neighboring towns. Yet, instead of solving the problem, Mayor Wanda Williams and her team are busy shifting blame.
This is not leadership. This is deflection.
The Problem is Clear but the Mayor Refuses to Fix It
The Mayor’s administration admits that police pay is too low. They admit that officers are leaving. They even admit that crime is a major concern. But when it comes time to act, what do they do? They blame the city council. They claim the money is not there. They say recruitment is difficult.
Harrisburg deserves better than excuses.
The reality is that the city does have the budget to invest in police staffing. The funds are there, but they are not being prioritized the right way. If the administration knew officer pay was a problem, why did it wait this long to act?
Lamont Jones Has a Plan that Works
Enough talk. It is time for real action. Lamont Jones has a plan to fix this:
Better pay for police officers – Competitive salaries will stop officers from leaving for better-paying jobs in surrounding areas.
Faster recruitment and training – The hiring process must be streamlined so officers are on the streets protecting our neighborhoods, not stuck in endless training delays.
Community policing – More officers in the neighborhoods mean stronger relationships between law enforcement and residents. That is how real crime prevention works.
Programs that stop crime before it starts – Investing in youth mentorship, job training, and after-school programs keeps kids off the streets and out of trouble.
This is how we make Harrisburg safer.
The Mayor Had Her Chance and Failed
Mayor Williams has had years to fix these problems. She has not.
She says the city is doing all it can, but if that were true, we would not be facing a police shortage this bad. We would not be leading the state in violent crime. We would not be watching trained officers leave because they cannot afford to stay.
The truth is, Mayor Williams’ leadership has failed Harrisburg.
Harrisburg Deserves a Leader Who Delivers
The choice is simple. Stay with the same excuses, or elect a mayor who will fight for this city.
Lamont Jones is not here to make excuses. He is here to get results.
Harrisburg’s future is on the ballot. The people deserve a leader who will actually fight for them.
Jones is ready. The city cannot afford to wait any longer.
